Travel to:

  • Lower Zambezi National Park

Lower Zambezi NP is in the South Eastern part of Zambia. This area provides a natural wildlife corridor running between the Zambezi Escarpment, the northern border of The Great Rift Valley, and, the ‘Mighty’ Zambezi River. It is famous for big game from large herds of Elephant and Buffalo, Lion, African Wild Dog, various Antelope, large pods of wallowing Hippos, the Nile Crocodile, and the legendary Tiger Fish for keen fishermen and women. Situated along the calming nature of this great river it offers a combination of land and water based activities.

  • South Luangwa National Park

South Luangwa National Park, located in northern Zambia is the premier park in Zambia and one of the best national parks in Africa. It was here that the now famous ‘walking safari’ originated, when Norman Carr, began to operate wilderness safaris in the area. South Luangwa offers a wide variety of wildlife and terrific photo-opportunities, including regular sightings of Sable, Roan, Hartebeest and the elusive Leopard. For bird enthusiasts there are over 400 varieties within the park, it being a crossroad for southern, eastern and west African birds.

  • Victoria Falls - Livingstone

Experience the power and beauty of Victoria Falls (locally known as Mosi-O-Tunya, “cloud of thunder”), at its magnificent peak in May. Nearby is Livingstone a bustling African town, once the capital of Zambia. With its colonial history and buildings there is muchto explore both old adn new. Along with museums, the national art gallery, the local market and artisan gallery and workshops there are river activities, bush walks, and the nearby Mosi-O-Tunya National Park has the white rhino, which may offer the opportunity for the to see the BIG 5.

Experiences

Clare - yoga teacher

After many years traveling in Africa and working in Zambia I returned to Tasmania. Africa remains in my heart, a wonderous continent that I want to share; hence Yoga Safari Zambia was born.

Clare comes with a wealth of knowledge to make this trip far more than what is on the label. In conjunction with experiencing the wildlife of Zambia, its landscape and people there will be opportunities to visit conservation projects, schools, a village, creative projects that create employment; eat at a local cafe, visit an art gallery and various markets. This offers the perfect mix of the new, exciting and un-imagined along with the opportunity to rest with the gentle touch of yoga.

Leading this Yoga Safari Clare comes with over 20 years teaching experience. She inspires and skillfully supports people at all ages and levels with classes designed for mixed groups. Classes are accessible and adaptable to the needs of the group and offered within a welcoming atmosphere. They blend and incorporate vinyasa, hatha and restorative yoga, meditation and breath practices. All yoga sessions are optional. See more about Clare’s work.

As we settle into a gentle rhythm of safari and yoga classes shall generally be late morning, after early activities. However, this can change according to activities and on request.

This YOGA SAFARI may be the trip for you if:

  • Visiting Africa has always been a dream

  • You want to go to new places while maintaining your sense of well-being

  • You want to travel in Africa with a small group of like minded people

  • You are looking for a new adventure
