Resting
“Spring is the time of year when it is summer in the sun and winter in the shade” Charles Dickens
It feels like this was written for spring in Tassie.
As the sun dashes in and out from behind the cloud, here on the ground it also feels everything is at speed as we race to the end of the year. With this come the joy of celebrations and holidays along with the frenzy to get everything finished. What a fantasy this is as stuff is never finished and there are always new things to do. I am working to find delight in the reality of 'never finished'; accepting the change that is always with me, moving with it rather than resisting it. And with this realisation I will not wait for a break.
A rest does not need to be a physical escape for a few weeks. Instead now, this moment, I can and will take rest. It may be a cup of tea or a mindful walk. I may release tension as I gaze at the way the light comes through a window or I may do a yoga nidra session. For this I lie myself down in the midst of my busy day, listen to a guided meditation and rest for 20 minutes.
As I step back into the activities of life I move with the foundation of renewed freedom and creativity.

Sight - what am I seeing?
Smell - what I am smelling?
Sound - what I am listening to?
Taste - what I am eating?
Touch - what am I feeling?
Dirt under my finger nails as I weed and plant.
